Manfred Mann's Earth Band - Blinded By The Light

These lyrics can't be as obscene as I think they are.

I have never understood the lyrics at all - does it actually mean something?

The lyrics, written by a young struggling bar band singer named Bruce Springsteen, are descriptions of people he met in his rough and tumble days. The deuce that is being revved up is a kind of chevy: a '52 I believe or maybe a '32. You would have to ask Nate.

Sam pointed this song out to me when we were riding around with his parents listening to classic rock-they were fanatics about their music. Some of the lyrics sound like half-intentional innuendos. Sam and I couldn't stop giggling.

I am working on an idea about the song, so I don't want to show my cards, but I think the lyrics mean more than the writer intended. How's that for mysterious?

Enigma: I think I'll be going for the gold. I'll need a pot of coffee, three packs of cigarettes, a book of matches, and my thinking cap.
